Applied Wisdom of Saundarya Lahiri – by Acharya Agyaatadarshan Anand Nath

With permission of our beloved master, Acharya Agyaatadarshan Anand Nath we are placing the excerpts of a discourse that he delivered on the topic of Saundarya Lahari Sadhana for the benefit of every seeker. Read on..

Shivoham!

Saundarya Lahiri sadhana in Tantric system is a means to attain the highest spiritual experience i.e. pratyaksha darshanam of Devi in all her grandeur and glory. If you aspire for that kind of experience then you MUST be initiated in Tantric discipline. Once initiated as and when you become capable your Guru shall allow this sadhana and also tell you some secret keys of this. A Tantric practitioner is supposed to takes up ANY sadhana ONLY with the Guru’s permission.

But those of you who are not initiated should not get disheartened because you can equally benefit from it.. gain higher wisdom, material wealth, perfect health… great relationships and much more just by rendering the chanting of different verses to the Mother divine in prescribed manner. So.. Irrespective of your status of initiation or deeksha Your connecting with Shakti shall grant you all the resources, powers and toys needed for leading a comfortable and engaging life. I think that is what most of you have come for. (Smiles)

In fact this very first verse of Saundarya Lahiri can be said to be a Kalpa-Vriksha or wish-granting tree. It is oozing with power to fulfill ALL YOUR DESIRES FOR OBJECTS. Everyone who seeks fulfillment of one’s material desires can use this verse for obtaining divine mother’s grace. Within this verse there are concealed and coded vibrations of the panchakshari  mantra i.e. Shiva’s Mantra and also the maha-mantra of SriVidya that is called Panchdasi Maha-Mantra -Vidya. Since none of you are yet inducted in these mantras I shall not be uttering the mantras. I hope soon all of you shall progress and become eligible for initiation into SriVidya..

SO… now let’s look at the first  verse of this great mantra-stuti.. it is:

                                          || Sanudarya Lahiri – Verse 1 ||

As I told this shloka is a boon-granting, wish fulfilling energy… this energy or Shakti is contained in its specific sounds. It is chanted to remove the obstacles from our life. It is also used in getting the desired objects in our life. Like every other shloka of Saundarya Lahiri this shloka is also reverberating and overflowing with energy. So You shall need a Yantra to hold it. Some of you have already been introduced to the concept of Symbology and Mandalas by Ma Shakti Devpriya ji.. so you know what a Yantra does. This verse uses a specific Yantra. Most briefly explained….  Yantras and mandala have a mysterious quality that they can store the generated energies during the worship or practice and then they can also reflect it back to the worshiper. This reflected energy has a transforming effect on the practitioner. It is for THIS PURPOSE a mandala or Yantra is used otherwise your energies dissipate without creating any impact. OK?

Now I shall be drawing the mandala…

Have a look.

There are two yantras that can be used in your prayoga..

The most popular one is this… (draws a yantra)

Another Yantra I am drawing now… (draws another yantra)

This Yantra shall be made on an elevated platform. You can use a big round plate what we call thali for it. The material used in drawing this particular mandala is red coloured rice-flour.

Now let me first share the practices for those who are not initiated in Tattva Shakti Vigyaan. Take a beautiful photograph of Mother MahatripuraSundari. The picture should be such that you love and feel great to look at… Not just any picture. Get that framed and place it at your sadhana place. The day you place this picture at your puja place you shall be offering ‘Panchopachaara‘ to this divine mandala (picture) of Devi. Since that day every morning and evening you shall continue with this panchopachara for the days your chanting continues. Ideally you should continue offering panchopachara even after your prayoga is over. After all you have now invited and installed Mother – The creator and ruler of Cosmos at your place!

What is panchopachara? If you do not understand what is panchopachara then do not worry.

These are simple humanly offerings made to the object of reverence such as a Yantra, Idol or Mandala… believing them to be a living entity… rather more like a living being. So you offer water for bathing, offering fragrant sandal paste for anointing, offer vermilion or turmeric for smearing on devi’s forehead, offer flowers to show your respect, light up fragrance and a deepam. Finally you offer something to eat.. generally something sweet is offered followed by water offering. That is it!

The same ritual shall be followed with the Yantra you shall make everyday. Looks simple…??  It is!!! But you should remember it is a ritual mandated only to cultivate the required attitude of reverence and forge a connect with saguna swaroopa of Primordial Shakti in the form of Mother Goddess MahatripuraSundari. Therefore it can not be done mechanically… there should be this feeling of Shakti – The Mother Goddess being there in the Yantra to receive your offerings. In a nutshell the more you feel Devi’s personal presence in your rituals more effective and successful your Prayoga will be.  Right?

Now listen to the exact sequence in which you shall be doing this chanting. Please keep in mind this method is for those who do not have ‘deeksha’. For dixits (initiated ones) I shall discuss after this..

  1. After taking bath wear clean clothes.
  2. Sit facing east (for this particular prayoga) at the specified place. Preferably on a red woolen blanket (asani).
  3. Light up a deepam (vertical wick) of clarified butter (ghee). Preferably cow’s ghee should be used.
  4. Now make the perfect shaped Yantra on the elevated platform with red flour of rice (for that mix the powdered rice with red color)
  5. Invite Mother to assume her seat in this Yantra. Offer panchopachara to the Yantra with love and reverence. Keep the offerings little away from Yantra and take care while you make offerings especially water as if that gets sprinkled upon the Yantra it might distort its shape. A distorted or disfigured yantra should not be used in any circumstance.
  6. Visualize Devi accepting your offerings.
  7. Convey the object of your desire or the obstacle you want to win over to the mother.
  8. Now chanting of this first shloka begins.

I repeat the chanting for you..

9. You are supposed to chant this shloka minimum of 108 times. (You may use rosary beads to keep the count).

10. Once your chanting gets over make a prayer submitting your being to mother with folded hands. Request Devi to accept your energies and bhava and bless you with your desired object.. Thank her and request her to leave for her heavenly abode.

11. Sprinkle some water below your asana and offer namaskaram to king of gods Indra and pick up that water with your finger and rub it to your forehead.

Always remember that Shakti can not be manipulated forcefully and therefore even if you are provided with every tool for your prayoga or application you shall have to be humble and in the receiving mode.

Precautions you should take –

  1. Always take permission from your Guru. Share your intentions of doing the prayoga and request for permission.
  2. You MUST share the tithi (date and time) of your starting the prayoga in advance.
  3. No one should be physically present while Prayoga. Neither watching over of this process by anyone is allowed.
  4. If you are chanting only 108 times then this chanting should be done for 120 days. The ONLY other possible combination is 10×108 times per day for 12 consecutive days. I don’t think you will have that much time at your disposal. So.. my suggestion would be that you take up chanting of 108 times on a day.
  5. Best time for this sadhana is night however you can choose any convenient time but the rule is maintain that same timing everyday for four months.
  6. Keep everything you need during Prayoga within your reach. Once you get seated for chanting you should not leave the seat without completing the number of counts decided. In life-threatening situations around (or any such emergency) you can terminate your sadhana prematurely but then all your previous counts go in vain. For example if you started 10 days ago and on 11th day you had to terminate your prayoga prematurely without completing 108 (or 10×108) chants. All your counts so far become null and void. In that case you should give yourself a break and do not continue your sadhana. Start afresh, requesting for obstacle free passage through prayoga.
  7. Ensure deepam keeps lit up during entire chanting… till the end. If deepam is put off due to any reason your sadhana is said to be khandit.. or interrupted.  The same rules apply here also.. means your sadhana done so far will become null and void.
  8. You completely abstain from sex and sexual stimulating material or activities during the entire period of sadhana. Keeping an attitude of reverence towards opposite sex is desirable.
  9. During this sadhana consumption of alcohol and meat etc is not allowed.  Stay vegetarian.
  10. One of the most important precaution is to stay away from anger. But even if you get angry due to any reason you are not supposed to raise your voice in spat of anger. Such a behaviour creates havoc around you and also leaks your energies.
  11. Finally… You should not throw any articles like flower, burnt wick, dust or ashes of Dhoopam etc. that are used in Puja here and there indiscriminately.  Never throw these things in dustbin. The best way is to dig a pit and bury those items (nirmaalya) there. Avoid disposing Nirmaalya in rivers/water bodies either as that causes water pollution.

At the end.. Let me clarify… Especially for those who are not initiated in Tantra or Tattva Shakti Vigyaan  ‘Bhava’ or the attitude is extremely important. A childlike innocence and enthusiasm during chanting is the key. Like a child you should feel that you are secure in the assuring and protective company of the Divine Mother. You should know within that ‘She’ is your mother and she is listening to you.  It is with this Bhava you should conduct your chanting and japa. … then… you shall reap the immediate benefits invariably. Of course absolutely correct pronunciation should be learnt and be maintained during the chanting!

Hope you all shall surrender your false ego at the lotus feet of the Beautiful Goddess of the Three Worlds and receive Her grace.”

Acharya ji further gave some more instructions on the subject –

For the higher practitioners (Krama initiates) all of the above rituals are going to be completely different. These are more elaborate and would require more precision… because you will be given beeja mantras for these verses. So you shall require personal guidance on this sadhana. You already know that more than your own efforts Gurumandala’s blessings do the magic for you. Here in these rituals also you shall be invoking Gurumandala and carrying out protection rituals as the first few things. You shall be using the personal mantra (that is given during your ‘deeksha’) as well. For the rest of period (when you are not engaged in prayoga) practice of ‘samyama’ and ‘witnessing’ is the key for receiving grace of mother.

Growing with Karma and Grace!

My Dear Friends and co-Travellers in
Tattva Shakti Vigyaan Practices,

Shivoham!

It has been since long I was contemplating of writing my thoughts to be able to share it with you all. The wonderful experiences I have been going have made me realize the magic of ‘being under the guidance of my Gurus’. There are plentiful of experiences of Sadhana but without dwelling in specifics (as that is not permitted for us to share that with anyone except our Masters) I can say that I have been feeling very liberated for the past few months.

SURRENDER HAPPENS WHEN GURU BLESSES

There’s a kind of fluidity in the way my inner environment is changing… after talking with Acharyaji once and following up on his directions I really feel big change has happened in my perspective. I surrendered to Shiv Shakti completely. This courage has come to me only overtime.. if I look back, the kind of attitude I had I couldn’t ever dream of me taking such a move ever in my life.

During one of my personal consultations Acharya ji asked me to recite a piece of Ramayana on certain days in a week. This! Sunderkand path helped me tremendously. I had no idea how powerful this text can be. While reciting it I felt like I am surrendering with my whole body and soul just like Hanuman. I don’t want to sound pompous and fake but I really felt that Hanuman was in me. It was such a divine feeling, brought tears in my eyes. I thank my Guru for this.

BEING NON-JUDGEMENTAL IS POSSIBLE

I was not like this. Tattva Shakti Sadhana does have something mysterious about it but more so I feel it is grace of Gurumandala that works! Over the two years.. finally I feel I have dropped judgements on people for the most part. I am not 100 % free yet on that issue. If there is sense of judgement or forming of an opinion coming up it quickly develops into empathy and love for that person. Each one of us can achieve this with the blessings of Masters.

GIVING IS RECEIVING

One of my observations on my sister/brother sadhaks and even non sadhak’s struggle is about understanding the art of giving. Giving in terms of finance and volunteering. I feel, lot of them are looking for opportunities everywhere but fail to see that it is right in front of them. In the beginning I also might have had a blind spot but since the day when I decided to GIVE, the whole Gurumandala appeared to remove my confusions.

I am no one to preach but with my own experiences I can say.. Guidance is waiting to happen. It will only happen when we open our palms and let go of the money. Money is given by mother divine for us to use in good deeds. Once we take care of our family’s basic needs, we don’t need to worry about money. It is about the art of detachment from money and also relations. To let go of money is much easier than letting go of your near and dear ones. Letting go of near ones absolutely doesn’t mean not loving or caring for them.

REACH OUT TO YOUR COFFERS
FILL THE FIST WITH GOLD
OPEN YOUR PALMS TO GIVE.
LO AND BEHOLD!

ONLY OPEN & EMPTY PALMS CAN RECEIVE
THE DIVINE MOTHER IS WAITING TO OFFER!

Please forgive me if my language might not be right but I say it with all my heart and love. I haven’t posted anything on the blog before but I really felt maybe others should read this.

Thank you so much for being part of my life!

Additional Mention – Like each one of you, I am looking forward to meeting Guruma & Acharya ji in the upcoming retreat at Majkhali. From some time my sadhana is not happening on a regular basis as I have been swamped with some volunteering work helping the girl scouts. I know.. I and you have the Masters helping and looking out for us  always..
In deep gratitude for their grace and love.
Lots of love

Art of Giving – How, When and How much Should I Give?

|| A teacher never stops surprising you… ||

This time, it was during one of his Satsangs when Acharya ji spotted me having an “Aha Moment” as a story was being narrated by our beloved Master Ji. Smilingly, he asked me to write about it. Hopefully, by the time I reach the end of this writing, I would understand the motive of his nudge😊.

Master Ji, a regular in Acharya ji’s Satsang discourses is truly a living example of “Love, Compassion and Giving”. During one Satsang he recently narrated a  family incident on the topic of ‘Giving’. It goes thus –

A newly-wed girl was very disappointed with her father-in-law’s refusal to part with any money for a needy person at the door. Angry and disappointed, she turned towards the stranger and said, “whatever my father-in-law has, it is from his past lives, he hasn’t earned anything in this lifetime, so he does not want to give away anything.” This didn’t go too well with her father-in-law and he threatened to annul his son’s marriage with her. The girl was not only spiritually aware but also had the wisdom and strength to handle a tough situation like this. She agreed to comply with her father-in-law’s wish provided the family declared it in the presence of all the guests who attended their wedding. Her stance caught everyone by surprise and they mellowed down. Perhaps the father-in-law realized his folly and chose to let the incident pass. Now almost a decade has passed and the family is not only together but truly charitable. To bring about such a change in the family’s attitude is definitely the power of being on the path of Truth coupled with self-conviction rooted in true understanding of Laws of Karma for sure.

This story triggered a series of thoughts in my mind. I had a very comfortable childhood, but I guess I did not imbibe ‘the giving’ virtue in true sense as I grew up. I had to deal with my own insecurities when I saw my husband in the ‘giving-mode’ all the time despite his less privileged upbringing. I decided to take an inspiration from his story. Quite honestly, it has not been easy, but the real growth happened gradually alongside my spiritual journey. It is not hard to find people around us worth emulating but we seldom take notice.

Speaking of Master Ji, his is an exemplary story in itself. A former high school Math teacher in a tough neighborhood in the US, he personifies the virtue of ‘giving’. I vividly remember an incident when I had once invited him to attend a Pranayama workshop by a senior Yoga Teacher from upstate NY. After the workshop, he offered to buy a few Yoga books from the teacher. I did not want him to spend and tried telling him that he could borrow those books from me instead of buying them. With his characteristic smile, he said, “it is okay, let me buy these books. We should try to help such good endeavors in every way”. I was astonished by his capacity to share and give.

I now innately understand that the opportunities for giving that come our way usually commensurate with our capacity to give and vice-versa.

This little note will be incomplete without the mention of Kahlil Gibran’s wisdom on ‘Giving’ (from “The Prophet”)…his words can guide us to the true essence of ‘Giving’…

You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
For what are your possessions but things you keep and guard for fear you may need them tomorrow?
And tomorrow, what shall tomorrow bring to the overprudent dog burying bones in the trackless sand as he follows the pilgrims to the holy city?
And what is fear of need but need itself?
Is not dread of thirst when your well is full, the thirst that is unquenchable?

Saundarya Lahiri – The Tantric Way of invoking Divine Beauty in Life!

Shivoham!

Gururbrahma Gururvishun Gururdevo Maheshwara

Guruh: saakshaat Para-Brahm Tasmayi Sri Gurave Namah:

I request the Gurumandala to accept  my humble salutations… Namaste!

I have been taking up Shiva Sutras for US based Tattva Shakti Vigyaan practitioners & all of you here in India felt deprived of ongoing learning with Gurumandala.  So, that’s one of the reasons for taking up this new series for you. Also we see, some of you have truly grown with your Sadhana and we feel that you can be given more to experiment with and deepen your experiences before anointing you with Higher Deeksha.

The last but the most ‘mattering’ reason is that – in all these years of our public interaction Ma Shakti Devpriya ji and I have received innumerable requests from people to speak on some tantric text that not only helps one in raising one’s consciousness but also saves them from the hardships of day to day life. It took some time before we really accepted the fact that there are some issues of your day to day life which occupy your mind and body hindering your sadhana. But as it sank in…  the choice of book for this purpose was unanimous. And in fact there was no other book in the lineage of tantric masters which could prove better than this – The Saundraya Lahiri… by greatest of all great acharyas Shri Adi Shankaracharya. In fact it will be apt if I say that this book has teachings, upayas and practices for everyone.. whether one has been initiated in Tantra or not however more can definitely be revealed to those who are in ‘discipleship’.

I know that… The task of presenting the practical learnings hidden in this greatest ever tantric book ‘saundarya lahiri’ is not going to be easy especially for the uninitiated but I Sa-Shaktikayeiya surrender our souls in the grace field of Gurus and almighty divine Mother to bless us with ability to retrieve all the teachings our Gurus have given us from time to time and thus enabling to sing Mother’s glory beyond our personal capacities..

From my Gurus I have learnt that she is capable of giving boons and unbound grace without having to show “Abhaya” and “Vara” mudras.. Even devatas draw miraculous powers through darshan of her divinely beautiful lotus feet.

Twadnyah Paanibhyaamabhayavarado daivat ganah:

Twamekaanaivaasi prkatitavaraabheetyabhinayaa|

Bhayaat Traatum Daatum Phalamapi cha Vaanchhaa samadhikam

sharanyelokaanaam tavahi charananaiva Nipunau ||

With this prayer lets begin!

Saundarya Lahiri has three beautiful subtler dimensions of your being – Mana or Mind. It includes its finer aspect of intellect also. Then comes Bhakti or Transcendence of Mind. Finally there are methods to arouse your Prana or individualized portion of Shakti or Kundalini to be able to reach a Total transcendental state. So…

There is beauty of literary excellence and it is in shabda vinyasa. It is so beautiful to see how Shankara, like a grammarian of highest order is concealing the transcendental sounds… what we call beejas…. in tantric system within these ordinary sounding words. And that too with so much ease! This aspect of Sundarya Lahiri appeals and astonishes our mind. And only an astonished mind is capable of perceiving something of beyond.. “Vismayo Yog Bhoomika”

|| Shiva Sutra – Shambhavopaya – Sutra number -12||

Then.. There is devotional and musical content in this tantric marvel that appeals to our heart and emotions. An astonished mind is ready for cultivation of Bhava.. As you chant and sing each verse you start immersing in the oceanic beauty of Devi. Devi’s mandala starts revealing its true nature creating a divine emotion in you. The appreciation and assimilation of that bhava leads to bhakti.  Bhakti leads to one-pointedness of mana and dissolution of Ahamkara or Ego. Paving path for kundalini to unwind and reach its destination – the crown or sahasrara.

But the most important  aspect of these verses is their hidden spiritual meanings pointing to various tantric means of Shiva-Shakti-Realization. And yet another beauty is that the same verses and methods when used in material realm are capable of taking away all your pain, misery and suffering.

Our Gurudev told us that in Tantra there are 7 crore mantric ways to raise sadhaka’s capacities.  These mantras are pertaining to various gods and mother-goddesses, yaksha, kinnar, tattvas, yoginis.. responsible for ongoing organic and karmic cycle. Out of those around a thousand mantras are associated with the Highest Ruler Goddess Raj-Rajeshwari or Lalitaambaa or Parvati and her direct transmutations collectively known as Dash mahavidya or Shri-Vidya.

He says that Pertaining to Raja-Rajeshwari there are 1000 great ways methods.. 1000 great mantras that are mentioned in Lalita Sahasranama. Another 100 more potent compound mantras are given out here… in Saundarya Lahiri. There are 10 mantras for dash-mahavidyas and 1 master key mantra that is the Guru-Paduka mantra.

In krama system the first ever mantra that is given upon initiation is known as Shri Gurupaduka mantra. It is with this mantra and of course Guru’s permission and blessings a dedicated disciple can use 1100 odd ways of creating favaourable ripples and for piercing through the cosmic web of Shakti.

Yantra- Visual tools in Tantra

It should be born in mind that each and every verse of Saundrya Lahiri is not one but what we can call ‘the mantra complex’ in itself. Every verse has a Yantra associated with that mantra. You can connect with these verses and Yantras to to create what you like and desire….. and get what you want. Apart from spiritually helping a sincere sadhaka every verse has a practical application in the material world as well…. Each one of you who are initiated in Tattva Shakti Vigyaan can take benefit from. All of you who have been connecting with Tattva Shakti Vigyaan Sadhana on regular basis.. and seeking protection of Gurumandala each day..  definitely get to know more. It is very extensive as you get deeper into it. Each Yantra is different.

Each Yantra has a beeja sound.. or what you call beej mantra.. each yantra requires a different ink… different base.. and also the method of creation and carving it. Many things like auspicious day and time for carving, the nyasa during japa, homam ingredients.. all these things shall be shared with those who have gotten diteeya koti sadhana . Well.. a simple reminder – you shall not be using these Yantras for others. If your loved ones who are not initiated … not received deeksha.. ask them to request a personal consultation session Ma Shakti Devpriya ji to receive a suitable Mandala for them.

Also the good news is that.. even if someone is not initiated in Tantric System and doesn’t have a Teacher even then he or she can take great benefits from the wisdom of Saundarya Lahiri. For those who are not initiated the use of beeja is not permitted instead they shall chant the whole verse. The yantras can be told.. in fact they have already been told… those shapes of Yantras are already available in different books but….. my suggestion would be to refrain from using those yantras ritualistically until you are guided by your Guru to do so. Simply because there are so many nuances and also risks involved if you are not protected by your Gurus through the way of deeksha.

If you are single pointedly and with full faith make yourself engaged in the Upayas then there is nothing impossible. Virtually every areas of your day to day life which you can imagine can be ironed-out and the adversities warded off through invocation of Ma Parvati through Saundarya Lahiri prayers. Very briefly some applications (but not limited to) are put below to just give a glimpse of the power of Ma TripuraSundari. She is capable of giving you everything..

Shivoham!

Worshiping Ma Katyayani on sixth day of Navratri

ॐ देवी कात्यायन्यै नमः॥

maa-katyayani-

The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Ma Katyayani. There are many views about the origin of Katyayani Devi the one which is most accepted goes like this.. There was a famous sage Kat, and name of his son was Katya. In the lineage of Katya, a famous sage Katyayan was born. Sage Katyayan wanted Ambe Ma to be born as a daughter to him. She was born to sage Katyayan on Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha of Ashvin Month. Sage Katyayan worshiped Ma on Saptami, Ashtami and Navmi of Shukla Paksha of Ashvin Month, and then Ma killed Mahishasura on Vijaydashami. She is known as Ma Katyayani as she was born as daughter to Sage Katyayan and also because sage Katyayana was the first one to worship her. So she is the daughter form of Ma Durga. She is epitome of love in the form of a daughter. This story conveys a very profound message that the Goddess fulfills every desire of a devotee even if he/she wishes that She be born to them. This is no deviation from what is said in Gita where Krishna says ‘You receive me in whatever form you desire’.

Ma Katyayani has four hands. Goddess Katyayani carries lotus flower and sword in her left hands and keeps her right hands in Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Her skin is golden in colour. Ma Katyayani rides a lion. Planet Brihaspati is governed by Goddess Katyayani.

Ma Katyayani shows us to reveal our inner strength and fight over all odds to emerge as a winner. She is an inspiration for women and is the symbol of strength and victory of good over evil. There are many scriptures in which we find mention of Ma Katyayani like Taittriya Aranyaka part of Krishna Yajur Veda, Devi Bhagvatam, Devi Mahamatyam and Markendya Purana. We find that many astrologers suggest to worship Ma Katyayani for early marriage of girls. This is Katyayani Vrat that is specially done by young unmarried females for early marriage. Katyayani Vrat is mentioned in Devi Bhagvatam. This vrat was done by young gopis of Vridavan as they wanted Lord Krishna as their husband. This vrat was done during the month of Margashirsha. Ma Kanya Kumari in South India is also a form of Ma Katyayani. She is also prayed by young girls for early marriage and for rain and prosperity. The best time for Katyanyani rituals is Godhooli Vela (dusk). A prayoga of Ma Katyayani is often suggested for avoiding ‘separation or divorce’ where clothes of Yellow and Red color are used and tied together after worship and rituals as guided by Guru. The most loving and best offering for Shakti Katyayani is ‘Honey’ offered in earthen pot or Silver pot.

Ma Katyayani is Agnya Shakti. Those who are initiated by any Guru should make their special offerings to Guru. The best offering towards the Guru is disciple’s devotion in the mantra, discipline in sadhana and obedience (matra moolam guru vaakyam). Tattva Shakti Sadhak and Sadhikas should do Panch Tattva Sadhana that they have learned by contemplating on the form and various aspects of the Goddess. Dwiteya koti Sadhaks are given a secret Sadhana that they should do during the Navratri period as the energies are very during this phase. The importance of Agya Chakra is very high in Yogsadhana. The Sadhak develops the ability to devote himself/herself completely to Shakti. Ma Katyayani gives darshan to the Sadhaks who surrender their ‘self’ completely and get rid of ego. She blesses the Sadhak with all the four Purushartha Dharma, Arth, Kama and Moksha. Although the Sadhak may remain engaged in worldly affairs, he/she is surrounded by a bright and divine light and his/her aura becomes magnetic. All the fears, illness and sadness of a Sadhak are destroyed. Ma Katyayani Sadhana destroys bad karma of previous lives too. Doing Panchtattva Sadhana while contemplating on Ma Katyayani removes negativity from the mind of a Sadhak and annihilates ego that is the source of all suffering.

Journey towards consciousness
Journey towards consciousness

Our body is a temple and within it resides our soul. As everything is subject to change in this universe, so is our body. The body is like preparation ground for our soul. Our school of thought says when soul is reality then how can body not be real, in fact it is as real as soul. As the soul is true so is the body. It is this body that is the vehicle for the journey of soul. The soul is able to perform various actions, rituals and experience this outer world only when in this body. This body is the outlet of expression for the soul so if we do not have correct and complete knowledge of our body, many of our actions might not be bringing about desired results. Many of our experiences may not be correct especially many rituals (structured-actions during Sadhana) may not contribute in our journey as they should.

Master AD says “As we always keep temples clean from outside and inside, in the same way our body, which is the temple of the soul should be kept clean from both outside and inside. He further says ” Having daily bath and cleaning helps us keep clean from outside, but to cleanse within, you can start with small steps; refrain from unnecessary and worthless thoughts, books and pictures, keep good company and try to engage in positive talks and read spiritual books.”

Above subtle practices can help us start cleansing from within. Mind is the centre of consciousness in our body. There are many sub-centres too.  The mind is connected to all the sub-centres and this connection is possible through three main “Nadis” – Ida, Pingala and Sushmana. The energy connections in our whole body are steady with help of these Nadis. These three Nadis are known as “Shareer- Tritantri” (शरीर त्रितन्त्री)

Our body is like an inverted Sitar (a musical string instrument). Sitar has its resonator at the lower side while our body has it at the top. Our mind that is resonator of our body is placed at upper side. Pleasant music is produced by plucking the strings softly by a plectrum called mizraab, and sitar of our body can be played by impulsion of Life force energy (प्राण शक्ति). In the seven centres of our consciousness, there are 46 types of life-force-energies. These seven centres are:

1. Sahasraar (Crown Chakra) 2. Agnya (Third eye) 3. Vishuddhi (Throat) 4. Anaahat (heart) 5. Manipoora (Solar Plexus) 6. Swaadhisthaan (Navel/Sex centre) 7. Mooladhaar (base of Spine)
