Swara Yoga Lessons by Tantra Master Ma Shakti Devpriya ji

Question:

Shivoham! Ma,

I am noticing my swara since few days. I take a note right at the time of sunrise. And few more times in the day. I have noticed that during the sunrise, some days it is as per the tithi. but some days it is not and even if I try to change it, it does not change. During the day, i have understood that most of the times it is surya that is active. I remember you said that chandra should be active during the day and surya in the night. So what should i do to correct it. Although i try few methods to change but it does not change for a long time. And how do i ensure that the correct swara is active during sunrise.

K.P.

Shivoham!

Dear K.P.

This is almost a common query, that all the new practitioners and enthusiasts of Swar Vigyaan have, that Swara is not according to the tithi. There are few reasons for this. Although I did share in the class, about how we can predict about our coming day, paksha, month and even year by reading our Swara during sunrise. But I had also mentioned, to predict correctly, we need to achieve proper working of the Swara.

When the swara is not according to the tithi, the first thing that should be attempted is to change the swara. This can be done by any of the method I had taught during the class. As you mention, that even if you try to change the swara it does not change and you also share that most of the times it is the surya swara that is active, so let us understand what can be the underlying causes for the same.

The first point to understand here is that there is certainly some problem/issue or disease. It can be on mental level and/or physical level. So try to contemplate on the following pointers.

Health of respiratory system

First step is to understand the health of your respiratory system. It means right from the nose to the lungs. Nose is a very important organ when it comes to understanding of the swaras and so its upkeep is very much necessary. Have you ever suffered from sinusitis, or currently are you having blocked nostrils or nasal passages. Also understand if there is unusual dryness in the nostrils? Do remember to do Jal Neti every morning, it will ensure you have clear nasal passages. Applying ghee (clarified butter) in the nostrils once daily will be helpful if you experience dryness in the nose. Also be sure of any anatomical issues like nasal septum deviation etc. There can also be some swelling in the throat or nasal area. If you are suffering from any of the above issue, proper treatment should be taken.

Health of Digestive system:

Problems with digestive system actually reflect on the overall health of our body. If you study and correct your swaras daily, you will soon realize that they are first ones to tell you that there is some problem with your digestive system. Over active pingala nadi or surya swara, can mean too much heat in the body. It can be reflected as hyper acidity in the system. Too much toxin buildup in the body is also a cause for overactive surya swara.

Posture:

This is also an important but many times overlooked cause for disturbed swaras. Overactive surya swara can simply mean that nerves in the left side of your body are weak. You must have noticed yogis sitting with a straight back and maintain the graceful posture for longer period of time. It has a reason behind it, when you sit with a straight back, you actually let proper functioning of the nadis to happen. Even a little bit of bent on either sides, affect the subtle nadis and that can be easily understood by reading the swara. Do you find yourself bent mostly towards your left side. Suppose you sit for longer periods of time, which side do you bent to?

Other less known Factors

If you are into any spiritual practice, especially mantras.. notice which mantras you are chanting because certain mantras (the most potent of those are of Agni, Surya, Narsimha and Hayagreeva) tend to increase fire-activity in the body thus disrupt the swara cycle.

Tattvic imbalance is another factor which come in the way of restoring normal swara cycle. In our lineage for the uninitiated ones we suggest Panch-Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya for this issue.

Nadi-Shuddhi is not just desirable but mandatory for achieving perfection in Swara Yoga discipline. Anyone who wishes to achieve greater success in Swara Vigyaan must conduct oneself through the Nadi-Shodhan practice on daily basis because it is a Complete Wellness Programme in itself and removes all diseases from body.

Weight shifting is general phenomenon that impacts swara cycle. Notice which leg do you tend to put your weight on, when standing for long time? Which side of the body do you use more?  As you will answer these questions you will find insight into functioning of your swaras.

Further any infection, pain or even dental filling in your left jaw can trigger surya swara dominance.

Once you are able to understand the underlying cause, for one swara dominance and rectify it, the functioning of the swara according to the tithi during sunrise will also start happening.

Finally, I would add a word of caution here. We tend to think about our bodies like machines, and feel that just tightening some screws here and there is going to heal it. You should understand that your body is a play of subtle energies and your lifestyle, emotions, situations has caused wear and tear to your body over many years, so it will take time in bringing harmony and balance in it.

If you do not take care of these minute things it may not be possible to bring perfect balance. If you continue having erratic lifestyle (includes sleep cycles, food quality and timings, exercise, pranayama and of course stress) there is less hope.  So minimize the damage you do to your body and experience the wonderful support of swaras in your life mentally, physically and spiritually.

Growing with Karma and Grace!

My Dear Friends and co-Travellers in
Tattva Shakti Vigyaan Practices,

Shivoham!

It has been since long I was contemplating of writing my thoughts to be able to share it with you all. The wonderful experiences I have been going have made me realize the magic of ‘being under the guidance of my Gurus’. There are plentiful of experiences of Sadhana but without dwelling in specifics (as that is not permitted for us to share that with anyone except our Masters) I can say that I have been feeling very liberated for the past few months.

SURRENDER HAPPENS WHEN GURU BLESSES

There’s a kind of fluidity in the way my inner environment is changing… after talking with Acharyaji once and following up on his directions I really feel big change has happened in my perspective. I surrendered to Shiv Shakti completely. This courage has come to me only overtime.. if I look back, the kind of attitude I had I couldn’t ever dream of me taking such a move ever in my life.

During one of my personal consultations Acharya ji asked me to recite a piece of Ramayana on certain days in a week. This! Sunderkand path helped me tremendously. I had no idea how powerful this text can be. While reciting it I felt like I am surrendering with my whole body and soul just like Hanuman. I don’t want to sound pompous and fake but I really felt that Hanuman was in me. It was such a divine feeling, brought tears in my eyes. I thank my Guru for this.

BEING NON-JUDGEMENTAL IS POSSIBLE

I was not like this. Tattva Shakti Sadhana does have something mysterious about it but more so I feel it is grace of Gurumandala that works! Over the two years.. finally I feel I have dropped judgements on people for the most part. I am not 100 % free yet on that issue. If there is sense of judgement or forming of an opinion coming up it quickly develops into empathy and love for that person. Each one of us can achieve this with the blessings of Masters.

GIVING IS RECEIVING

One of my observations on my sister/brother sadhaks and even non sadhak’s struggle is about understanding the art of giving. Giving in terms of finance and volunteering. I feel, lot of them are looking for opportunities everywhere but fail to see that it is right in front of them. In the beginning I also might have had a blind spot but since the day when I decided to GIVE, the whole Gurumandala appeared to remove my confusions.

I am no one to preach but with my own experiences I can say.. Guidance is waiting to happen. It will only happen when we open our palms and let go of the money. Money is given by mother divine for us to use in good deeds. Once we take care of our family’s basic needs, we don’t need to worry about money. It is about the art of detachment from money and also relations. To let go of money is much easier than letting go of your near and dear ones. Letting go of near ones absolutely doesn’t mean not loving or caring for them.

REACH OUT TO YOUR COFFERS
FILL THE FIST WITH GOLD
OPEN YOUR PALMS TO GIVE.
LO AND BEHOLD!

ONLY OPEN & EMPTY PALMS CAN RECEIVE
THE DIVINE MOTHER IS WAITING TO OFFER!

Please forgive me if my language might not be right but I say it with all my heart and love. I haven’t posted anything on the blog before but I really felt maybe others should read this.

Thank you so much for being part of my life!

Additional Mention – Like each one of you, I am looking forward to meeting Guruma & Acharya ji in the upcoming retreat at Majkhali. From some time my sadhana is not happening on a regular basis as I have been swamped with some volunteering work helping the girl scouts. I know.. I and you have the Masters helping and looking out for us  always..
In deep gratitude for their grace and love.
Lots of love

Mantra Vigyaan and Shakti Worship- Part II

Mantra is a significant aspect of Shakti Sadhana. Utmost importance is given to proper pronunciation of a mantra. Because the manner in which the mantra is pronounced decides its results. The most important thing in mantra sadhana as discussed earlier is deeksha into a mantra. For Shakti Sadhana there are thousands of mantras right from saabar to beeja to stotras, dhyaana mantras, moola mantra, mala mantras, sahasranama etc.  Shakti upasana, in particular MahaVidya upasanas requires proper deeksha from a Guru.

RECEIVE MANTRA ONLY FROM AN ABLE GURU

Mantra has to be received properly from a qualified Guru. Here we are less concerned about the personal attributes and academic qualification of the Guru rather focused on the fact that Guru himself should have done the desired number of recitation of mantra and should have experienced ‘Mantra Veerya‘ or essence of mantra. Mantra Veerya can not be defined in specific terms but generally speaking a particular mantra gives the practitioner a specific experience upon blooming. When mantra blooms it brings about two outcomes – first one is ‘specific inner experience’ in the practitioner and the second one is some modification in the energy-matrix of outer world (if it is a mantra belonging to that category). Mantra Veerya is that inner experience of particular mantra.

WHY THAT MANTRA DIDN’T WORK FOR ME?

Sadhaka engaged in Shakti Sadhana mostly receives standard mantric forms from the teachers. For example if someone has received Kamakhya Mantra from one teacher of course the other teacher shall also give the same mantra (verbatim).  But then it is also very commonly felt that mantras (though they are the same) from different teachers work differently. While disciples of one teacher start having enriching experiences, inner transformation and spiritual ascension quite easily and early and other practitioners reciting the same mantra (exact pronunciation and exact same words) received from some other teacher do not progress at all!

Now this sounds ridiculous but it is not. Tantric texts have clearly given out reasons for the same. It is written that mantras are like living entities and thus the same mantra can have different emotional and energy states like – Supta Mantra, Jaagrat Mantra, Keelit mantra, Krodhit Mantra etc. Now an innocent seeker would probably never know if that particular mantra which he/she received has been abused by his teacher or lineage. In case a mantra has been indiscriminately used/given out to undeserving people the mantra loses its power. Not only this! Mantra in its first phase becomes baadhit (withdraws its power) and if the abuse still continues it becomes angered. So much so that it can now cause harm to the practitioner!!

This is the most important aspect of mantra which most of the spiritual seekers don’t understand about Shakti Sadhana through Mantra yoga.  Most of people ask how to rule out the possibility of receiving a defective/angered or dead mantra and the answer lies in identifying whether Teacher is indiscriminately giving mantra to anyone & everyone who approaches him or he/she chooses the disciples. If a teacher is seen distributing mantras indiscriminately there is quite a danger in receiving mantra from such a teacher.

EACH SYLLABLE OF MANTRA WORKS ON YOUR TATTVIC COMPOSITION IN DIFFERENT WAYS

Now let us understand what are the results when an energized mantra is received and chanted properly. The letter that make a word are pronounced by five places. The five places are lips, tongue, teeth, palate and throat. Every point corresponds to a tattva or element. The lips correspond to Earth Element, the tongue to Water element, the teeth to Fire element, the palate to air element and throat to Space element. The Mantras or letters that use lips for pronunciation develop and strengthen the Earth element within the Sadhak. In the same way words or letters that use tongue for pronunciation develop and strengthen Water element, words and letter using Teeth, strengthen Fire Element, words and letter using palate, strengthen Air element and words and letters using throat strengthen Space element.

MANTRAS MANIFEST SWAROOPA TO SADHAKA

This human body is miniaturized universe – The Microcosm. It is personal universe of the individual. However within this Microcosm or personal Universe there are three discrete universes situated
in the middle, top and bottom parts of the body. The three universes are also related to three distinct energies. The middle portion of body is related to Kaaran Shaktis or Causal powers. The lower part of body is related to Sthoola Shaktis or Gross powers. The upper portion of the body is related to Sookshma Shaktis or subtle powers.  Knowledge about self, transcendental knowledge and also material knowledge is bestowed upon the Sadhaka when various Shaktis are activated. Various mantras activate various shaktis, For example the mantra “राम” activates Subtle energies. The mantra “ह्रीं” activates Causal energies and mantra “ध्रीं” activates Gross energies.
When these energies are activated completely, they manifest into a particular form depending upon the emotion and desire of the Sadhak. The Sadhak is blessed by the that particular form and his/her desires fulfilled and manifested. Mantra jap certainly gives its results but to attain the Siddhi where manifested form of God/Goddess are invoked and blessings are received, requires the Sadhak to go through complete Tattva shuddhi, Nadi Shuddhi and most importantly he/she should have control over his senses this also referred to as Dharana Siddhi. When the Shakti manifests in a form, there is no rule that she will be in Devi Swaroop only she can manifest in Dev roop also, it depends on the Sadhana of the Sadhak.
AVOID KAAMYA PRAYOGA & REFRAIN FROM WRONG MANTRAS
There is one more crucial aspect that should be discussed here. The Mantra’s are of two types- दैविक (godly and divine) पैशाचिक  (demonic and satanic). The result of the daivik mantra is explained above but when a Sadhak does a Sadhana of Paishachik mantras the Shakti is not manifested in front of him.  But a Sadhak himself enters into the region of Pishach and brings him under his control. The pishach in control can do any sort of work for the Sadhak, but the end result is painful and grievous, as the Sadhak enters into Pishach-yoni after death. The other secret is that the boon and results gained through Daivik Sadhana can be enjoyed freely without incurring any debt. Whereas the results gained through Pishachik Sadhana have to be re-compensated.
A Sadhak can gain anything through Shakti Sadhana. The Supreme goddess blesses with boons when is pleased and joyous.

Many at times practitioners feel their progress in Mantra Yoga gets stalled after few quick experiences. Why this happens, what are the causes and what should be done if such a thing happens, I shall deal with all such questions in my next post.

Panch-Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya – Mumbai

Revered Tantric Masters and propagator of Tattva Shakti Vigyaan, Acharya Agyaatadarshan Anand Nath and Ma Shakti offer the secret Panch Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya that belongs to ancient Tantric lineage and is one of its kind. Acharya ji shares that this is the only one Kriya that despite being extremely powerful can be given to everyone and through the regular practice of Panch Mahabhoot Shakti Kriya every person can gain the immense benefits. He says “Panch Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya takes the practitioner to a deep meditative state where healing and rejuvenation is accelerated five times as compared to what happens in deep dreamless sleep.”

CLEANSES AND BALANCES TATTVAS

Our whole being resonates with the rhythm of the universe. This unique amazing rhythm of the universe is created by the play of five elements also known as Panch Mahabhuta. The Five Great elements are not only supporting us on the gross level, but they are the foundation and basis of who and what we are. Our every thought and action arises from the play of these five elements and further affects them too. Working with the five elements simply means tending to the roots. Panch Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya is an ancient Tantric Kriya that purifies and balances the five elements.

The Five Great elements are Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. The Chakras in our body are the abode of the five elements. The Earth element (Prithvi) resides in Root Chakra (Muladhara). The Water element (Jal) resides in Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana). The Fire element (Agni) resides in Solar Plexus (Manipura Chakra). The Air Element (Vayu) resides in Heart Chakra (Anahat) and Space element (Akasha) resides in Throat Chakra (Vishudh).

BALANCES & HEALS CHAKRAS

Health of the chakras determine our physical, mental and spiritual well being. Although the Chakras are a part of our energy body, but they are also connected to the various endocrine glands in the body. The endocrine glands release hormones directly into the blood influencing and controlling various aspects of growth, development and daily activities. When we start to work on the five elements with Panch Mahabhoot Shakti Kriya, the chakras are also cleansed and balanced. In turn they affect the related endocrine glands leading to better well being of the physical body. The physical body feels light and is completely de-stressed after practicing the Kriya.

PROMOTES HOLISTIC GROWTH

Almost all physical and mental disturbances are caused due to blocks in our energy bg-healthsystem. Our energy system is made up of Chakras and Nadis. If you feel sad, angry, irritated and depressed most of the times, it is because of blocked energy channels leading to sluggish chakras. The breathing techniques done during Panch Mahabhoot Shakti kriya cleanse the nadi system and free you from negative emotions like anger, worry, anxiety and depression. Practicing the Kriya just once makes you feel happy and relaxed. Having a perfect emotional well being leads to more creative and prolific life.

KRIYA FACILITATES MEDITATION

If you have been meditating for a long time or have just started to meditate, you must have certainly confronted the biggest hurdle that is of achieving a thoughtless state of mind. Every person who has practiced Panch Mahabhoot Shakti Kriya, have said to achieve that state. In exact words of a practitioner after practicing Kriya just once First time in life I have felt so calm and focussed both at the same time while doing a practice. Although it was just for a few moments, but I know now what I am capable of Achieving a state of thoughtlessness is dream of every meditator and by practicing Panch Mahabhoot Kriya you can surely achieve it.

WITH KRIYA – GROW SPIRITUALLY

Revered Tantrika and Tattva Shakti Vigyaan propagator Ma Shakti says If you really want to change things in your life do something about it. Through Panch Mahabhuta Shakti Kriya it is so possible only by giving few minutes daily to yourself. This Tantric Kriya starts re-wiring your life-energies by harnessing the power of Five great Elements. The positive impact of this restructuring becomes visible in all life situations, health, relationships in less than 3 months itself. Pancha Mahabhuta Shakti kriya** opens the further growth avenues for spiritual growth.

Shivoham!

The pact with darkness – Mother! You have to help me break it..

“My life has been full of misfortunes, most of them never happened.”

A wonderful piece of wisdom I came across today.

This is truly a line that reminds me of eternal fear, each one of you is living through. Fear that keeps whispering in one’s ears that everything isn’t going well… that something bad or worse going to happen. This Ms. Fear or Mr. Fear, as you may like it, is everyone’s darling. Most of people around seem to have entered into a pact, a thrilling love-hate relationship with Mr./Ms. Fear. This Fear seem to be taller than the keepers’ ambitions and courage, duskier than the bright hopes and intoxicatingly attractive than their resolve to not pay attention to its luring overtures. Our relationship with ‘Fear’ is captivating and exciting at the same time; capable of keeping our attention focused on Ferociously Engaging Automatic Response of one’s mind.

It is truly a pact we have made with the darkness, so whenever there is a situation in front of us, we choose darkness instead of light.  There are many difficult times in life when the we feel that it is difficult to choose light over darkness but just unwantedly darkness hovers above our heads. And again yet again we fall prey to the plays of darkness and fear takes over. This pact made is renewed and gets stronger when we fail every time to see light but continue with darkness in life. A vicious circle goes on and on and we find difficult to come out of it. How to break this unending cycle of fear and darkness then?

Fear is always of something ‘unknown’.  As a Shaakta, what better way can there be for us than to take refuge in the divinely radiant lotus feet of Mother to ward of all the darkness, negative patterns and fears of life.

The Mother’s Symbol

O Mother ! The divine dust of your lotus feet is:
Island city of the Suns.. the remover of darkness of ignorant,
these are the cosmic cluster of flowers from which gushes the nectar of intelligence for the dull-witted and it is the Necklace of wish yielding gems for the poor. The same shakti of yours becomes the tusk of the cosmic boar (varaha, incarnation of Lord Vishnu) uplifting the people immersed in the ocean of samsara! The samsara means the unending infinite cycle of birth and death..

Saundarya Lahiri’s this verse is loaded with the Mother’s specific power that removes darkness. With light comes knowledge and knowledge dispels fear. Its not coincidence that You are reading it – It is Her blessing. Anyone who is recites this powerful shloka is blessed.

SAUNDARYA LAHARI – SHAKTI SADHANA FOR ALL

Shivoham!

Shakti is a divine principle. She operates in its own freedom. It can not be made to change its ways. She has been worshipped and hailed since time immemorial. In Satyuga Devas pleased her to manifest her magnificent form that won over the asuras and blessed them with their kingdom and rights.

Treta Yuga saw Shri Rama worshipping Shakti to obtain the grace of Hers to be able to win over Ravana. Sita worships the Shakti in her Gauri form and receives Shri Rama as her husband through her blessings. In Dwapara Yudhishthira approaches Shakti in her Kameshwari form and gets assured of his win over Kauravas.  Of all forms of Shakti the power of Kameshwari is truly so overwhelming. Unlike many of her other manifestations this one has particularly soothing and gentle one…

Sri Kameshwari Stuti by Yudhishthira

Many times seekers are confused over this question – ‘In which roopa she should be approached, connected with and worshipped?’ Sometime out of ignorance a sadhaka starts thinking of supremacy of Her one form over another. There are as many forms of Her as you may imagine and billions of other forms which we as a human are not capable of imagining.  Shakti sadhana is different than Bhakti Sadhana because here you make your intentions clear in terms of your personal need. She is capable of bestowing everything upon her sadhakas. Also She presents herself in the form of your choice.  Whatever way She manifests in your life it is sure way of empowering you always if not liberating (depending on your choice).
Each one of us are looking out for Shakti and what better way can it be to approach the Divine Mother through Saundarya Lahari in the benign company of Master. It is definitely a sadhana which can be taken up by everyone alike.

May you all be blessed with light of wisdom.

Blessings from Masters,

Stotras – The Ways to Connect with the Divine Virtues of Infinity!

Shivoham!

The Shiva is spontaneous force, innocent and all-powerful. Though He sits silently as witness at the core of everything but you should not forget that it is ‘His’ Shakti that creates, sustains and annihilates the infinite cosmic celebrations around us. When Shiva is realized within He is realized through his Shaktis the ‘gyaan’ and ‘ichchaa’. The power of knowing and Power of willing. When He is experienced in the Urja chakra He is seen with Paarvati. Paarvati represents the Shakti of Gross (tangible and material – Energy and condensed energy – matter) world.. Parvati in our being is originating from Muladhara (Prithvi) and residing at ‘her very own place’  the Swa-Adhishthaan’ as kula kundalini.

When it comes to physical manifestation that is in the Aham-Idam frame, the Shakti becomes manifest in the form of Bhairavi, Shiva follows and incarnates as Rudra or Bhairava. Shiva is seldom visible to aspirant in the form of Rudra or Bhairava because Shiva is that primal cause of everything whose experience can happen only to His Shakti. Therefore almost all capable Sadhakas shall be able to experience Bhairavi or Devi in their sadhana experiences not Shiva.

But it does not mean Shiva is never experienced in Aham-Idam. Technically it is true that Shiva can not be experienced in this domain but in Shiva Sutras you have heard it from Acharya ji that Udhyam is equivalent to Bhairava. This Bhairava is created out of Udhyam – Udhyam means incessant, cyclic and programmed flow of Shakti impregnated with TOTAL consummate awareness of the ‘sadhaka’ through either of three Upayas. And according to the chosen Upaya the experience is cultivated in the consciousness – It is through the play of Shakti of Sadhaka in Anavaopaya that Shiva manifests in Himself in the form of Bhairava. A Sadhaka should always remember that Shiva and Shakti are never separate from each other and secondly Shiva is EVER-FREE (swatantrya shakti) to break all set rule (only if we thought there are any). Thus Rudra or Bhairava is experienced. Even in Shambhavopaya a personalized experience of Bhairava is very much possible for some sadhakas.

And Rudra is that aspect of Shiva which is ever filled with Anant Karunaa (infinite compassion) so much so that his eyes are always moist, filled with water looking at us.  He is all benevolent, kind hearted, innocent.. so much so that He does not care for who is the sadhaka in front of Him. Shiva in the form of Rudra does not differentiate between devas and demons.. Manushyas (humans) or Gandharvas (celestial beings).. He blesses and gives boon to everyone. He does not see if he is giving boon to a Devata or Rakshasa. Rightly thus he is called Bhole-Baba..

To experience the presence of Rudra in your consciousness you should live in Shiva consciousness with all your (His) Shakti focused on to your respective Upayas (mostly anavopaya sadhana). Of which chanting or Nam-Smaran is a wonderful way to collect one’s awareness and energy to the point of desired convergence (abheepsit).  In this mode of convergence Stotras are divine means to create right kind of bhava (emotional framework in your psycho-energetical ecosystem) in your being. And it is said when Bhava is right.. Deva is not far. And remember experience of Deva is said to be Amogh (unfailing – means it always blesses you and takes away your hurdles) therefore it would be apt to present you with this Rudrashtakam in the voice of Acharya ji as a means of strengthening Bhava in your sadhana.

So sing, dance, love Him and let the tears of surrender take away all your sins.. May Shiva bless you all.  Please note, I am giving the transcript of that this Rudrashtakam for the ease of pronunciation in chanting.
